Blurring the edges between reality and fiction, and set in an era when everything we do is photographed- or could be- A LOVE AFFAIR OF SORTS is a modern twist on romance in the digital age. The first feature film to be shot entirely on a flip camera, the narrative follows two lonely strangers in contemporary Los Angeles during the holiday season. The film begins with David (director David Guy Levy), a painter, and Enci (Lili Bordán), a Hungarian nanny, who meet in a bookstore when he catches her shoplifting on his ever-present flip camera. As they start a tentative relationship, everything is captured on digital cameras, though nothing about the situation is as straightforward as it looks. Things are further complicated with the inclusion of Enci's boyfriend Boris (Iván Kamarás), and David's brutally honest friend Jonathan (Jonathan Beckerman, playing himself, and unaware until the end of the film that it was fictional). Somewhere between their own narcissistic urges to be constantly filmed, and a need to connect in the vast urban sprawl of Los Angeles, A LOVE AFFAIR OF SORTS takes a wry look at the way in which technology brings us all together while also keeping us apart, and changes our definition of what it is to love and be loved.Less
